purchase date: 3.15.24
purchase location: nyc flower market (28th st.)
first arranged: 3.15.24
processing & arranging:
left wrapped and in water for 7 hr from first cut (10am, 3.15). did not pierce stem with pin to relieve pressure. removed excess leaves, cut and arranged (5pm - 6pm, 3.15)
observations: tulips never stood post processing, minimal movement overnight. aging progressed over the next few days without maximal opening.
pictured 3.19.24
second process & re-arranged 3.18.24:
removed excess leaves, cut and re-arranged in smaller vessel. reflexed petals for more dramatic effect (9pm - 10pm, 3.18)
observations: visible translucence and fraying in leaves and petals suggesting aging
stem splitting that occurred in water featured in re-arrange
personal notes: I really love tulips. to minimize waste I like using the stems and foliage as additional components that I can add to my arrangements.
translucence - a sign of age in tulips
discarded dead/dried stems 3.24.24 but kept the one frayed stem for further drying
